WHAT IS FINANCIAL PLANNING?

Financial planning involves diving into the details of your finances to develop a road map that you can follow in order to reach your goals. We evaluate your income, expenses, assets, and liabilities to help organize, optimize, grow, and protect your financial life. Once we understand where you’re headed, we are able to guide you on the most efficient path forward.

Our financial planning process generally consists of three meetings:

  1. First, the introductory call where we get to know you and your financial situation in a bit more detail to find out if FMF is the right firm for you.

  2. Second, after you’ve accepted the financial planning proposal and collected all the necessary documentation (net worth statement, investment statements, tax return, etc.), we get together for the Discovery Meeting. It’s here where we dive into the details of the assumptions that we will use when evaluating your financial plan.

  3. The Third and final meeting is a review meeting where you will sit down with your CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM to discuss your plan and the recommendations we suggest.

 

The takeaway from this process is a clearly defined set of personalized recommendations that you can start implementing immediately. Afterwards, we are on your team to help implement the recommendations if needed. We also check in as needed to help keep you accountable and moving towards your goals.

THE COST BREAKDOWN 

Being a fee-only means we don’t charge commissions, we don’t receive referral fees, there are no other hidden fees lurking behind the corner.

FMF charges an hourly rate which is currently $250.

Generally, FMF’s financial planning clients fall into two categories:

  1. A Comprehensive Financial Plan

    This is where the magic happens. You are taken through the full planning process where you will work hand in hand with your CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM Professional to develop your own personalized financial plan. Your financial situation is mapped out and evaluated to look for ways to optimize your hard earned dollars.

    The general cost for a comprehensive financial plan ranges from $2,50
    0 to $4,500 depending on complexity.

     

  2. Hourly Financial Planning

    This consists of a more focused or narrow scope of work. Maybe you have a question or two about your stock options, need to quickly update a portion of your financial plan, or just need to sit down with an advisor to sort some things out and you don’t require a full comprehensive financial plan at this point. If you have been a client of FMF’s before, there is no minimum time but if you are here for the first time, we do have a two-hour minimum project fee.

This call normally lasts about 20-30 minutes. If FMF is the right fit for you, we will provide you with a more accurate quote at the end of this call. If we aren’t the right fit at this time, we will do our best to point you in the right direction.
